One of my colleagues said today that she believed in "sticking to your kind", i.e. not dating someone of a different race to you. It was one of those sentences that begins "I'm not racist, but...".

I have to get away from those horrible people. I have to.

Long time no see. (Are you drunk or just ecstatic because uni life is so good?)

(Or maybe both?)

(Or maybe you just love me.)

I have a rule of thumb that if a sentence begins 'I'm not a racist/sexist, but...' or 'Some of my best friends are black/disabled/asylum seekers, but...' then you can safely ignore the end of it as not worth listening to.

It's a genuinely marvellous name, and I don't want this blog to be discovered by my work colleagues.

It's of the same genre as, 'I don't mean to be offensive, but...'

Some people might as well die while the rest of us blog our lives away. The joys of the internet.

Actually some of my best friends ARE black disabled asylum seekers. Love those guys.
